What are the paths to Perl and Sendmail?
/usr/bin/perl & /usr/sbin/sendmail

What's the server path to my files?
Depending which server you are located on it will be either /home/username/public_html or /home2/username/public_html Be sure to replace username with the user ID you use to login to cPanel. To see which path is right for the server you're on simply click the "File Manager" link in cPanel and look at the path listed across the top for either /home/* or /home2/*

Where should I upload my site files to?
Your "public_html" folder.

How do I stream Real Media files?
1) You record your content in .rm or .ra format. For simplicity, let's call the file you are producing "sound.rm" 2) Upload this file to your "public_html" folder. 3) Now if you type in your Browser http://www.domain.com/sound.rm you will begin downloading the file. Not what you wanted, huh? 4) To stream sound.rm do this: Open Notepad and just type the line: http://www.domain.com/sound.rm Save this file as sound.ram (this time it's .ram and not .rm) and upload it to the same folder as your sound.rm file. 5) Now if you type http://www.domain.com/sound.ram (the file will stream)

Where do I put CGI scripts?
CGI scripts should go in your cgi-bin folder, this is located at: /home/username/public_html/cgi-bin Replace username with your cPanel login username. CGI scripts will not work outside of the cgi-bin for secrity reasons. Some of the most common paths used in CGI and Perl Scripts are: Date: /bin/date Sendmail/Exim: /usr/lib/sendmail Path to Perl: #!/usr/bin/perl Server path: /home/username/public_html/cgi-bin Root path: /home/username/ (puts you in the root of your account) Root WWW path: /home/username/public_html (puts you in your public_html directory) Cgi-bin path: /home/username/public_html/cgi-bin/filename (puts you in your cgi-bin)

Robots.txt - what's that?
Robots.txt is a plain text file that Search Engines use to see if there are areas within your website which should not be indexed. This is good for several reasons. For example, images or other media files will not help you in your Search Engine rankings, so there's no reason to allow SE's to index these files. Plus, every time a SE's spider-bot does index these types of files it wastes your bandwidth. The robots.txt file should be created/placed into your 'public_html' directory for search engines to see it. The example below would tell search engines not to index pages in the 'images', 'private' or 'cgi-bin' folders. You can change these or add to them as you desire to direct Search Engines when indexing your site. User-agent: * Disallow: /cgi-bin/ Disallow: /images/ Disallow: /private/
